Root Canal Treatments

A root canal is a procedure to save a tooth that’s badly damaged or infected.

Why a Root Canal ?

A root canal is needed when the inside of your tooth gets infected or damaged, often due to a big cavity or trauma or a serious crack caused due to the forces of grinding habit, abrasion or erosion.

It helps save the tooth and keep it functioning properly.

  • A root canal is used when a tooth’s pulp gets inflamed due to acute or chronic irreversible pulpitis (inflammatory process). It relieves pain and prevents further damage when a filling alone won’t ensure the health of the tooth.
  • A root canal is performed on the tooth when its nerve is dead from infection however doesn’t give any pain. Sometimes, an abscess appears as a small lump near the affected tooth, signaling the need for treatment.

However, majority of root canals are done because of severe decay that has infected the nerve, leading to significant pain.

Does Root Canal hurt ?

You won’t feel pain during a root canal as it is performed under local anaesthesia.

In certain occasions you might feel discomfort after the local anaesthetic wears off which usually subsides in a few days.

How it Works ?

Root Canal treatment process starts by removing the infected nerve tissue causing your tooth pain and then clean the tooth to eliminate the infection with specialised equipment. After the root canal, we’ll restore the tooth based on how much tooth structure remains.
